Victorian State Election Overview
The 2026 Victorian state election is scheduled for Saturday, 28 November 2026, as per Victoria's fixed four-year terms. This election will determine the members of the 61st Parliament of Victoria, comprising 88 seats in the Legislative Assembly and 40 seats in the Legislative Council.

Electoral System
Victoria uses full preferential voting for the Legislative Assembly (lower house) and proportional representation (Single Transferable Vote) for the Legislative Council (upper house).
Voting is compulsory for eligible Victorian citizens aged 18 and over.
The party or coalition that wins a majority (45 seats) in the Legislative Assembly forms government.
The Legislative Council acts as a house of review.
