Background and political history
Milton Dick, a former Queensland ALP State Secretary and Brisbane City Councillor, entered federal parliament in 2016 and was unanimously elected Speaker after the 2022 election. He presides over the House modernisation program-introducing remote e-voting trials, a family-friendly sitting calendar and heritage-wing upgrades-and continues to champion local manufacturing at the Ipswich aerospace precinct.
