Biography
Background and political history
Former federal senator Amanda Stoker returned to Queensland politics in 2024 as Attorney-General, bringing extensive legal expertise and conservative values to the Crisafulli government. A commercial lawyer and former academic, Stoker previously served as a Liberal senator for Queensland from 2018-2022, where she was a strong advocate for free speech, religious freedom, and traditional values. After losing her senate seat, she contested the state seat of Oodgeroo and won in a tight contest against Labor. As Attorney-General, Stoker is implementing the LNP's tough-on-crime agenda, including adult sentencing for serious youth offenders and expanded police powers. She has also championed legislation protecting freedom of speech and religious expression. Her appointment signals the government's commitment to law and order policies and conservative social positions. Stoker is known for her articulate defense of constitutional principles and opposition to what she sees as progressive overreach.
